My Internship Experience at !AYCON and Ameritum
By MahaBanu Khan
From 01 August to 30 September, I completed a voluntary paid internship with !AYCON Management Consulting GmbH and Ameritum, two internationally active companies, founded and led by Ulvi I. Aydin.
Conducted in a hybrid format between Abu Dhabi and London, the internship offered an exceptional opportunity to gain hands-on experience in strategic consulting, editorial writing, and international business development within a global and fast-paced environment.
!AYCON is a Germany-based Interim-Management firm, specialising in management consulting, executive leadership, and strategic transformation. Its counterpart, Ameritum, serves as an international business-network, connecting senior executives, entrepreneurs, and decision-makers through exclusive events, publications, and collaborations. Both organisations operate across Germany, the Netherlands, the United States, China, and the United Kingdom, a truly global orientation that shaped my daily work and deepened my understanding of cross-border communication and coordination.
Throughout the internship, I was entrusted with a wide range of responsibilities combining analytical, creative, and organisational tasks. My work included conducting in-depth market and financial analyses for client mandates, supporting business development initiatives, and contributing to the implementation of an AI-driven customer-acquisition system.
I also played an active role in content creation, drafting and editing editorial articles and newsletters for both Ameritum and !AYCON, while ensuring the highest standards of clarity, precision, and professional tone across all written materials, in both German, and English.
Additionally, I helped maintain CRM data, draft and review cooperation and service contracts, and coordinate communication between international offices.

The mentorship I received straight from Mr. Aydin and Business Development Manager Anastasia Kabitzsch was a central part of this experience. Their willingness to share insights into strategic decision-making, leadership, and client relations provided a rare and valuable perspective. They welcomed me and made me an integral part of their team, mentoring me throughout the internship, allowing me to experience all different areas of their work, while never neglecting the importance of funny anecdotes and laughs. I was encouraged to think critically, approach challenges creatively, and take ownership of my contributions, all within the company culture of two companies, that value precision, trust, and collaboration.
This experience expanded my professional skill set across multiple dimensions. I strengthened my analytical and research capabilities while doing market research and financial analyses, redefined my professional writing, and gained hands-on experience with digital tools such as CRM systems and AI-based acquisition platforms. Beyond these technical skills, I developed a deeper understanding of how strategy, communication, and leadership intersect in shaping effective organisations like Ameritum and !AYCON across time zones.

Following the successful completion of my internship, I was honoured to receive an offer to continue working with both !AYCON and Ameritum, in a part-time capacity alongside my university studies. This ongoing collaboration allows me to build upon what I learned, take on greater responsibility, and continue contributing to the companies’ international projects and publications.
My internship at !AYCON and Ameritum was an exceptional learning experience that combined analytical rigour, creativity, and cross-border collaboration. It offered not only insight into global consulting, but also the chance to grow within an inspiring team that values initiative, precision, and authenticity: values that will continue to guide my professional path.
Maha!
